Graduation and Celebration
Team WA3904 graduated on the 29th July 2005 with flying colours. The graduation was a highly emotional day with the return of our companion, friend and team mate Leah Cameron who took ill 6 weeks into the project. Leah was admitted to Fremantle Hospital in a critical state, which had doctors wandering what had caused such a dramatic event. Leah was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Fremantle Hospital where she was monitored closely and where she nearly lost her fight for life on a number of occasions. The team visited Leah on a regular bases even when Leah was in an induce coma state the team still stood by her. Darryl was a pillar of strength for Leah, her family and the team itself. Leah family and to be up lifted from their home in Busselton to where they could be close to Leah, St Patrick's Catholic Church provided a home for them to stay in, donations came in various forms, all of which added in the family continuing their bedside vigil of Leah.
Thanks to Bridging, St. Patrick's Catholic Church and The City of Mandurah for assisting in this very worthy cause.
By some miracle Leah went from strength to strength and managed to attend her and the team's graduation. It was an emotional day as the invited guests witnessed the bond that had formed between the team and how friendships had become families. Leah can not wait to go back to work, although she has still has a way to go before she fully recovers, seven of the team members are going to complete Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management, whilst another two team members have commenced in TAFE courses that being an Art Course and Business studies.
Congratulations to Team 3904 you are an inspiration to all.
