Our service is simple and accessible. Anyone can sign up for a member ID through the Containers for Change program, though it’s optional if you prefer cash payments. Using our BTG Member Number (C10241335), you can start collecting eligible containers marked with the 10¢ refund symbol.
How to Recycle & Access Your Refund
Bridging the Gap Containers for Change offer various ways to return your containers and collect your refund. Once you’ve collected eligible containers, you have several options to redeem your refund:
Refund Options:
Depot drop-off in Port Kennedy: Receive 10 cents per container directly at the depot or use your scheme/member ID so you don’t have to wait for your containers to be counted.
Collection service: We provide a collection service using the Containers for Change WA app. You can book a collection from your home, business, sporting club or School by purchasing an eligible bin or using sealed bags or boxes. We change a 3 cent per container service fee meaning you get 7 cents per container. All refunds are processed through your Scheme/ member ID that you will have linked to a bank account, or you can donate your refund.
Drop and Go Secret Harbour: Items can be dropped off at our convenient bag drop (open 24hrs) located at the Secret Harbour Shopping Centre Loading Doc. Just use the Containers for Change WA app when dropping off your bags and log the code on the front of the sea container so your items can be registered in the App.
Donation to community groups or charities: You can donate your refund to schools, registered charities, or even Bridging the Gap itself.
Our Containers for Change collect service allows households, cafés, restaurants, and businesses to schedule a convenient pick-up. Refunds are processed through bank transfer or donation via your member number account, keeping the process secure and transparent. No cash is handled through this service, making it both safe and environmentally friendly.

Most drink containers and pouches between 150mls and 3L with the 10cent mark can be returned. By using the Containers for Change WA app you can scan the barcode on your container to check its eligibility. By participating in this scheme, your keeping waste out of landfill and helping generate employment opportunities within the local community.
